So I’ve decided to take my own advice and eat healthier this semester. Therefore I wanted to try making some snacks because I have to be on campus nearly all day sometimes. The other recipe I tried today was a disaster lol but this one came out great!
The link to the recipe is above but I substituted raisins for craisins and didn’t use sunflower seeds, oat bran or wheat germ at all. I also didn’t use honey but that was because I was out.
The mistake I made was not melting the chocolate chips. But I don’t think it made too much of a difference and I actually prefer the whole chocolate chips. However, not having honey set me back; the honey helps mold it together. I used more peanut butter than was called for because of the lack of honey but I didn’t want to use too much peanut butter because I was using organic peanut butter and it’s expensive.
So because I didn’t have honey and didn’t use enough peanut butter to meld it together, when it came out of the oven it was still very crumbly. I attempted to make balls of it in the beginning (first picture) but gave up. If you want to make it into true bars, make sure you have honey and peanut butter (you can cut back a bit on the butter) and don’t forget to refrigerate it! (No, I didn’t not refrigerate mine and am not planning to).
As for the taste, delicious! Seriously, I am in LOVE with this recipe and am already planning to make it again. I never thought sesame seeds were tasty (although I acknowledged their healthiness) until now but combined with the sweetness of the craisins and peanut butter it was perfect! The granola mix is crunchy but not hard and the sprinkle of cinnamon makes the whole thing smell great.
Overall, 5/5.
I know this isn’t a dessert but it’s delicious so go and make it and thank me :)
